Waste Removal
For the Offcuts Between Renovation Phases, Not the Whole Site
There’s a specific kind of waste that doesn’t quite fit “rubble” or “junk” cleanly — the stuff that comes out of a renovation or a small demolition job partway through, rather than the general rubble left at the end. A torn-out kitchen cupboard run that’s not broken into rubble-sized pieces. An old bathroom vanity, taps and all. A dismantled deck, still mostly in plank form. A removed carport frame. This service covers that specific category — renovation strip-out waste and small demolition debris that’s more “dismantled structure” than “crushed rubble,” and still firmly bakkie-scale.
The gap this service fills
A full skip works well for a whole-house renovation generating rubble by the ton. General junk removal isn’t quite right either — a torn-out kitchen isn’t household clutter, it’s structural offcuts from building work. This service sits in between: sized for a single room, a single structure, or a single phase of a bigger renovation, collected as that phase finishes rather than waiting for the whole project to wrap up.
What we collect
- Torn-out kitchen or bathroom fittings — cupboards, vanities, countertops, old fixtures
- Dismantled small structures — decks, pergolas, carports, Wendy houses, garden sheds
- Removed doors, window frames, and similar building components
- Old flooring — carpet, tiles (once removed, not the demolition itself), laminate offcuts
- General strip-out debris from a single-room renovation phase
Working with contractors and DIY renovators alike
We work with two different kinds of client on this service, and we’re built to suit both. Small renovation contractors and handymen doing phased work for a client benefit from having a reliable number to WhatsApp after each phase, rather than letting offcuts accumulate on-site until the whole job is done — a tidy site partway through a renovation matters to how the client experiences the whole process, even before the final result is visible. DIY homeowners tackling their own renovation in stages get the same benefit from the other direction: clear each phase’s debris before starting the next, rather than living around a growing pile for the whole project’s duration.
Phased collection for phased renovations
If you know your renovation is happening in stages — kitchen this month, bathroom next month, garden the month after — you don’t need to wait until everything is finished to book a collection. Many of our renovation clients send a photo after each phase wraps up, and we collect within a day or two, which keeps the property liveable and presentable throughout a project that might otherwise run for months.
What this service doesn’t cover
This isn’t a demolition service — we don’t tear structures down, we collect the debris once something is already dismantled or removed. It also doesn’t cover genuine construction-site volumes; if your renovation is generating multiple bakkie loads per phase, that’s likely outside our scope, and we’ll tell you honestly rather than underdeliver on a job sized for a bigger operator.
Pricing
As with our other services, we quote from a WhatsApp photo in quarter, half, or full bakkie load bands. Renovation strip-out waste can be awkward to judge by weight alone since dismantled structures (a deck, a cupboard run) take up more space than they weigh — send a clear photo and we’ll size it based on how it will actually load, not just an estimated weight.
Frequently asked questions
Do you collect after each phase of a multi-stage renovation, or only once everything’s done? Either way — many clients prefer collection after each phase to keep the site tidy throughout, and that’s exactly how we’re set up to work.
Can you take a dismantled deck or shed in one piece, or does it need to be broken down first? Mostly broken down is easier for loading, but send a photo of what you have and we’ll advise if it needs any further breaking down before collection or if we can manage it as is.
Do you work directly with our contractor, or does it have to go through the homeowner? We’re happy to coordinate directly with your contractor for both scheduling and quoting — many of our regular renovation clients are contractors managing several properties.
Is this different from your rubble removal service? Yes — rubble removal covers crushed or broken building material (tiles, bricks, concrete), while this service covers dismantled fittings and small structures that are still largely intact when removed. If your job has both, mention it in your photo and we’ll quote the combined load.
Can you take old carpet or flooring? Yes, once it’s been lifted — we don’t do the removal of fitted flooring ourselves, just the collection of the resulting waste.
What if the debris includes both structural offcuts and general renovation rubbish, like packaging? That’s fine — send a photo of the combined pile and we’ll price it as one load rather than needing it separated by type.
Do you charge more for awkwardly shaped items like doors or window frames? No — pricing is based on how the load fits into the bakkie overall, not on individual item shapes, though very awkward or bulky single items are worth mentioning in your photo message so we can plan the loading properly.
Can you collect from a body-corporate-managed complex where renovation access is restricted to certain hours? Yes — this is common with complex renovations, and we’re used to working within a booked access window. Let us know the time constraint when you book.
Why we recommend clearing debris between phases, not at the end
Letting renovation offcuts accumulate until a project is fully finished creates two problems: the site becomes progressively harder to work in as material piles up, and a large accumulated pile is genuinely more expensive to clear in one go than the same total volume collected in smaller batches along the way, since it may exceed a single bakkie load and need multiple trips regardless. Collecting after each phase avoids both problems — the workspace stays usable, and each collection stays within our standard quarter-to-full-load pricing rather than escalating into a multi-trip job.
